In October 1999 Betsy and I found a piece of waterfront property on Brannock Bay situated about 14 miles outside of Cambridge , MD in an area known as the Neck District. We purchased the parcel with the intention of one day building our home on it.
Over the years we have improved the parcel. Five acres were placed into a forest stewardship program and we're growing several thousand lob lolly pine trees. Well, septic and electrical service were all added to the property when we constructed a carriage house in 2003. We added a pier a couple of years later.
With all of that in place, the day has come and here's the plans for the home we are building.
Our building permit has been issued and Betsy and I had a little ground breaking ceremony on Saturday November 7th. Work on the foundation will start this week.
Over the next several months, I'll be using this space to chronicle this project from it's inception a decade ago to it completion sometime in 2011.
